For those I wasn’t able to contact about the rescheduling of Tim Sanders

I was just speaking with the front desk receptionist at the Student Centre at Progress Campus. Firstly I want to apologize that I wasn’t able to contact each of you individually to let you know about the change. I know many of you drove a long way and took time out of your day. Please know:

  • I value your time and I’m sorry it was misused today
  • Tim’s team just found out last night around 5:15 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) and I did my best to get the word out

If you need to direct your anger somewhere, please direct it at me. Send me an e-mail or call me. Tim Sanders was donating his time for this event and I understand he feels horrible about not being able to make it. The front desk receptionist understands your anger, but please, do not speak nasty to her.

Tim’s representative forwarded several options whereas he could have just said “Hey, he wanted to do it but it just didn’t work out, sorry.” But he didn’t, he’s going to be driving to Toronto from Buffalo after an event on November 10th to speak then. That’s 100% solid.

Again, please direct your anger my way for not doing a better job of getting the word out. I can tell you stories of comedians, speakers, musicians and the like who have either broken committments (even when they’re being paid) or not lived up to their end of the bargain because it’s so easy to do it and they suffer little consequence when they do.

Tim and his representation are stand-up people.

Tim Sanders, coming to Centennial … just not yet

Some of you knew that Tim Sanders was going to be coming to Centennial to speak tomorrow – I was very excited about this, but according to his tour coordinator, there was a mix-up about the starting time for his first speaking engagement that day. He thought it was at 9 a.m. and ours was at 1 p.m. – turns out it’s at noon (or something similar).

Life happens, though, so no worries. He will be back in town on November 10th and will return to Centennial then.

Here’s a video of Tim in action – well worth the time it takes to view.

Meatball Sundae

Seth Godin puts out books like … well … fill in your own analogy here. His latest, Meatball Sundae discusses the effects of the demise of traditional marketing efforts and the growth of new methods of getting the word out like online campaigns, viral e-mails and the like.

One of my favourite authors/speakers is Tim Sanders and he recently participated in a teleconference with Seth Godin about the book and its topic. And because Tim preaches a theory I subscribe to, bizlove, he posted the teleconference on his blog!

It’s just over an hour long and is chalk full of good stuff that will definitely expand your horizon on topics like marketing, blogging and core products.

Tim’s posting is here and there’s no reason you can’t put this on your iPod and spend a trip to and from work listening to it.
