Ellen Degeneres is currently holding a contest where she’s invited viewers to send in videos of themselves singing in the bathroom. My father, John Yuill, is a big Ellen fan so he immediately took to planning his bathroom video. This is the result and what he’ll be submitting to the contest.

Car crashes into house? OH YEAH!

Mathieu | January 23rd, 2010 | 1 Comment »

I found this via Twitter which then lead to a Reddit post and finally, I want to give the OP credit. Elizabeth Dixon maintains a blog What Ever and posted an entry about some public art that sprung up a few hours after a car crashed into a house in Savannah, Georgia.
Best. Post. Ever.

As she writes:

“Someone looked over there and saw not the place of a terrible car accident, but the opportunity to live out a dream.”

“And really, haven’t we all had that dream? To be in a situation where making a sign of the Kool-Aid man breaking through a wall would make sense?

Thank you Elizabeth Dixon for sharing this most awesomest of blog posts.

The best Amazon.com product reviews

A Twitter contact posted this and it honestly made my day. The reviews for this t-shirt are fantastic.

Definitely worth the click-through. Check-check-check it out. Make sure you read the reviews – that’s the funny part – even though the t-shirt is pretty funny on its own.

Ten unfortunate cakes

Mathieu | May 15th, 2009 | 2 Comments »

Funny CakeI think putting funny sayings on cakes is really funny. My first attempt was when I was a teenager. My father forgot to pick up a cake for my mom’s birthday so he sent me over to pick one up. I had the cake people put “Happy birthday mom, from Mathieu” on the cake so when my dad opened it up in the kitchen to put the candles on all you could hear was laughter.

I came across this great site that has ten really funny cake mishaps. The one above is classic. There are three words and you can’t get two of them right? The other entries are just as funny, check them out.

A brilliant mashup showing seemingly the exact same scenes from different Disney movies. Right down to the movement of the characters.

For those of you who don’t get it, it’s a Star Wars reference.

End of the Cold War? Let’s go for a drive

Mathieu | January 26th, 2009 | No Comments »

Really, I’m not on a NYT kick or anything but I just happen to come across these recent entries and I thought I would share them. Errol Morris sat down with three White House photographers and discussed photographs of George W. Bush. This one, by Tim Sloan/Agence France-Presse is of Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Some mark this meeting as the official end of the Cold War. Here’s the comments on it from Errol and Sloan:

VINCENT AMALVY: I selected it because it was like the end of the Cold War. Is it a picture of typically what can happen during an official meeting between an American and a Russian? But this is the completion of the Cold War.

ERROL MORRIS: Yes. We were on the verge of annihilating each other, and this is how it ends. Tens of thousands of nuclear warheads targeted at each other followed by a ride in a ’56 Volga.

The entire entry can be found at the New York Times Web site.
