So TSN launched a new network aptly called TSN2 like its brethern in the United States, ESPN. And this year TSN2 will be carrying 25 Raptors games. Now about the only thing I watch on either TSN or SportsNet is baseball and Raptors and since I have yet to forgive Bell for how horribly they treated me as a student I am with Rogers.
The problem here is Rogers and TSN2 don’t have an agreement yet. It all relates around how much money Rogers would pay TSN2 per subscriber. MLSE is again, proving itself to be less than amicable to the fans. In this situation they decided to ink a deal that would see better financial returns to them than their games viewed by as many fans.
I can’t blame them for wanting to make as much money as possible but this strategy is short-sited. It’s this kind of action that, even though some Maple Leaf tickets become available, I don’t buy them. It’s why I stopped buying food inside the arena and haven’t bought any Raptors gear this year.
My plan is this Sunday, to find a place or someone who has grey market satellite and watch the game from the Miami feed. Even if a bar or restaurant has TSN2, I’m not watching it there either.
I’m ticked off at all of them but Rogers the least. This one channel will not drastically change their subscriber base and they didn’t decide to make the broadcast deal between MLSE and TSN so I can’t find as much fault with them.
But – does anyone else see the irony here? Wasn’t it only last year, or a year or two ago that Rogers and MLSE/Raptors announced a huge partnership – which is why there are hundreds of Rogers logos all over at Raptors games?

I am angry at Rogers.
I understand the money argument – but they went from broadcasting a large chunk of games each year, to nothing. NOTHING!
I know out west and east no one watches the games, but in Ontario/Toronto, there’s a large fan base watching games. It’s enough to AT LEAST bring TSN2 on their Sportsnet Ontario broadcast.
So, as of right now, I have no access to over a quarter of the season.
I need to find someone with an all access NBA pass to watch the games online. Unless they blackout Toronto users from Toronto games…?
