People don’t know what they want

This summer we hired 76design to redesign and rethink our Web site. When I introduced some of the concepts to coworkers and friends they all gave me a funny look and wondered if I had gone off the deep end.

It wasn’t going to look like every other student association Web site, it wasn’t going to function like typical top down information system system. It was going to be something that you decided you wanted it to look like.

This hasn’t been done very often in popular Web sites but the point is, we did it because I don’t believe people always know what they want. Well, they might know what they want but they can’t articulate it. Leadership is born out of those who imagine what you want and somehow give it to you. Malcolm Gladwell spoke four years ago at a TED conference. Here’s his talk.

About Mathieu

The problem is I have a few too many interests. Yeah I love tech stuff, but I also love driving cars and then there's the woodworking and not the least of which is the learning thing. So for now I'm collecting them all in one place and this is that place.
